I offer bothin-person sessions from my Lake Union Seattle office, as well as telehealth counseling sessions, conducted via Zoom.
My preference these days is to work in-person, so I lean towards clients who can meet in my office (at least some of the time).
It’s my experience that having the physical space and distance away from the other parts of your life is an important part of being able to relax into therapy. There is total privacy and confidentiality (no family members or co-workers to overhear us), and no distractions which might be present at home or at work. I do believe having this “container”, as we therapists like to call it, can lend to an easier time sinking into feelings and maintaining our focus on the task at hand.
When I do do telehealth counseling, I use Zoom video. Zoom is the easiest, most reliable technology I have found for working. Telehealth can work quite well, though issues of privacy (others hearing you speak) can be as issue, and poor Internet connectivity can result in a laggy feed or missing words – which isn’t great. You are responsible for the privacy and Internet connection on your side, of course.
When booking a session with me – you can let me know which you prefer, or choose the appropriate session type if you self-schedule.
